Fears of increased terror threat from a “nuclear” Iran

In Iran, the development of nuclear weapons in Middle Eastern nation, is coupled with concerned which is also returning to state-sponsored terrorism. Last night, one security expert informed that at very least, Iran would feel emboldened to support more terror activity around the world if it had a nuclear armory to deter any revenge. According to the news reports, that the chief of MI6, Sir John Sawers, believe Iran will have nuclear weapons by 2014. John Sawers revealed how covert operations through British spies had prevented Tehran from developing nuclear capabilities as early as 2008 but that it was likely Iran would eventually reach its goal. Jonathan Evans, the Director General of MI5, informed that along with the nuclear intentions of Iran, a return to the state-sponsored terrorism could not be ruled out.

He further said that there have been already a series of attempted terrorists plots against Israeli interest in India, Azerbaijan and elsewhere. Last year, US authorities unveiled a plot through the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran to mount an attack on the Saudi Ambassador in America. Jonathan Evans said that, a return to State-sponsored terrorism via Iran or its associates, such as Hizbollah, cannot be ruled out as pressure on the leadership of Iran increases.

Iran Could Use Nuclear Arms As A Shield To Increase Support

Last week, at a private gathering at the Civil Service Line event in Olympia, John confirmed that when the moment came and Iran had a nuclear weapon, Israel or the United States would have to decide if a military strike has to be launch. A research fellow at the respected think tank RUSI, Sashank Joshi, confirmed that the concern of the nuclear Iran was not much about a dirty bomb. However it is an escalation of its involvement in terrorism generally. Sashank Joshi said that Iran could use nuclear arms as a shield to increase support for non-state actions.
